About Computer Power Supplies (PSUs)
Desktop PC power supplies from Antec, FSP, ASUS, PD Power, MSI and DEEPCOOL, from entry-level units to high-wattage 80 Plus rated models for gaming builds.
- Wattage. Add up your components and leave headroom. Your graphics card's recommended power supply wattage is a good guide.
- Efficiency rating. 80 Plus Bronze, Gold and Platinum ratings show how efficiently a unit converts power, with less wasted as heat.
- Modular cables. Fully or semi-modular units let you connect only the cables you need, which keeps the case tidy.
- Graphics card connectors. Newer cards may need a 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector. ATX 3.0 and 3.1 units include it.
- Size. Most cases take a standard ATX unit. Small form factor cases may need an SFX unit.
