About Notebooks and Laptops

Laptops from Dell, HP, Acer, ASUS and Alienware for study, business and gaming, with Intel Core and AMD Ryzen processors.

  • Processor. Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 suits most work and study. Choose Core i7, Ryzen 7 or higher for heavier workloads.
  • Memory. 8GB is the minimum for Windows. 16GB is the better choice if you keep many tabs and apps open.
  • Storage. An SSD makes the biggest difference to speed. 512GB is a comfortable size for most people.
  • Screen size. 14-inch models are easier to carry. 15.6 and 16-inch models are more comfortable for long sessions.
  • Graphics. Gaming and creative work need a dedicated graphics card. Integrated graphics are fine for office work and streaming.
  • Operating system. Business laptops usually ship with Windows Pro and home models with Windows Home. Chromebooks run ChromeOS, which is built around web apps.
